Conservative pain therapy
In the treatment of back pain, our specialists in the orthopedic department of the Munich Airport Clinic perform epidural injections and radiofrequency ablation (RFA). Epidural injections involve injecting local anesthetics and/or corticosteroids into the epidural space, which is outside the outer covering of the spinal cord, to block pain and reduce inflammation. Radiofrequency ablation involves inserting thermal needles into the target area under imaging guidance and then using heat to destroy surrounding tissue. This process can help interrupt pain signals and alleviate symptoms.
Due to the requirements for sterility and the availability of X-ray equipment, these procedures can be performed excellently in the operating rooms of the Munich Airport Clinic.
